Branded versus Unbranded Electric Ride on Cars

When looking into the ride on electric ride on car market there is a bewildering array of choice, price and quality in these products. So how do you choose?

Break down your problem into bite sized pieces. One of those issues is whether to buy a branded or an unbranded toy.

There is an undeniable difference in price between branded and unbranded goods. This is true for pretty much all goods in the marketplace, not just for ride on electric cars.

What do we mean when we refer to branded goods in the electric toy market, as our recommendations are for specific high end quality manufacturers who are brands themselves?

We are referring to the license partners they manufacture for. Take Peg Perego for example. They make branded quads styled like Polaris and John Deere style tractors. Or Toys Toys who make a whole range of replica cars as toys for the likes of Ferrari, BMW, Mercedes Benz and Volkswagen to name just a few. And our other recommendation Injusa, who make for the Barbie brand and the Hello Kitty phenomenon in Japan.

If you were the CEO or a board member of these multinational corporations … do you think you would be happy if a nickel and dime outfit in a dodgy part of town were making cheap rip off’s based on your brand, after you spent millions building up and maintaining the quality and integrity of that brand?

You would be livid. So these companies have a vested interest in keeping their brand at the top end of people’s expectations by playing with other high quality manufacturers.

There is also a rather uncomfortable alternative way to look at this argument however, and that is from a parents perspective, in that our children pick up on branding at a very young age. But this almost cannot be avoided.

Do you stop your child playing with cards and reading books with cars in them because they might have a brand logo somewhere, or do you stop them watching motor racing even though you might? Have you bought the best and safest buggy, stroller or kids car seat you could afford? Were they branded?

You would need to cocoon your children in a bubble to avoid the world as we know it today. Brand indentity is a part of modern life and yes we do pay for it to some extent, but we also benefit from it too, in that it does offer potentially some benefits in terms of quality if you can afford it, as well as the kudos and status too.

So that brings us back to the branded versus unbranded argument?

We would recommend the manufacturers who make cars for other brands under licence, whether you buy a branded toy or not, because these folks have been checked out and inspected by the worlds major players and deemed to be solid manufacturers of quality products.

We believe this is probably as important a point as meeting US and European manufacturing standards. Administrators in regulatory bodies have little to gain in their auditing by approving or warning a dodgy manufacturer, but a fellow manufacturer has a lot more at stake if their choice is below par.

Bottom Line

Whether you choose to buy a branded or unbranded toy, we at ride on electric cars would recommend that you stick with a reliable manufacturer, even if you choose something comfortably in budget that has no specific branding on it. They will still be designed, manufactured and produced to the same high standards as the branded replicas they make.
